L.A. County: Supervisor proposes ban on pot dispensaries in unincorporated areas - latimes.com

Apprehensive that unincorporated L.A. County might progressively be more favored by medical cannabis collectives expelled from other areas, Supervisor Antonovich on Tuesday proposed a ban on the medical marijuana Clubs, which would overturn a four-year-old county policy.

Aides to Antonovich noted that many cities in the county have forbidden MMJ collectives or forced moratoriums on them and the city of Los Angeles is trying to shut down about 400. The supervisor's office has acknowledged at least a 12 inquiries from L.A. collectives looking to move to the county.

‘Pot saved my life’: Medical marijuana helps one man thrive - Rynski's Blogski

Prior to his first toke as a high school senior, this 22-year-old New Jersey native and current Colorado State University student was constantly struck with seizures and other side effects from epilepsy.

Arizona’s November ballot will include a vote on the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, which would allow medical marijuana use for people with terminal or serious illnesses and other qualifying conditions.

Migraine Headaches, Chronic-back-pain, Movement-disorders, Multiple-sclerosis, Radiation-therapy, Chemotherapy, Fibromyalgia
Anxiety, Arthritis, and HIV-AIDS

In the neuropsychiatric field ...

Tourette’s Syndrome (TS) is a complex neuropsychiatric disorder that is characterized by involuntary tics. The cause of this disorder is unknown. Some patients with TS have small tics and others have debilitating tics. It is estimated that there are 100,000 Americans with TS. There is no known cure for TS but it is reported to improve with age.

A number of studies since 1999 have shown that TS patients have an improvement in tics and in other associated behaviors (such as obsessive-compulsive behaviors) with use of THC, the main natural medicinal compound in cannabis, and no cognitive impairment was noted.

In 2003, the previous findings were confirmed with another well-designed study that was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. In this study, TS patients received either THC or placebo for six weeks and scored the level of daily tics. Patients who were receiving THC had significant reduction of the tics and suffered no detrimental effects on learning, recall, or verbal memory. Researchers concluded that for adult TS patients, “Therapy with delta-9-THC should be tried…”. For those patients who have not found relief from symptoms with conventional therapy, who have adverse side effects from current treatment, or who prefer a natural treatment, medical cannabis is a viable and reasonable alternative.

more than 170 medical marijuana dispensaries notify Los Angeles of intent to stay open

Representatives of 174 medical marijuana dispensaries have filed notices with the Los Angeles city clerk, indicating that they intend to remain open. City officials now face the daunting task of determining whether those stores qualify to operate under the new ordinance.

The stores are among 187 that registered in 2007 to continue to operate when the City Council adopted a moratorium. (City officials have long said the number of registered dispensaries is 186 but recently concluded one was inadvertently left off the list.)

All other dispensaries in the city were required to stop selling marijuana June 7, when the ordinance became effective.
